The Virginia Lottery to Recognize Super Teachers in Virginia
Since 2008, the Lottery’s Super Teacher program has honored 40 of Virginia’s finest K-12 public school teachers. This year, eight more deserving educators from across the state will join the ranks of Virginia Lottery Super Teachers. The Virginia Lottery, The Supply Room Companies and the Virginia PTA partner to present these awards during a surprise presentation at the winning teacher’s school. Winning teachers will receive a $2,000 cash prize, plus a $2,000 credit for classroom supplies. There’s even a special “extra” this year: All eight Super Teacher schools will qualify for a second contest in which one school will be chosen to win an additional $5,000 credit from The Supply Room Companies to purchase items for the entire school. The school will be selected through a Facebook contest in summer 2013.
Check out the website at www.vasuperteacher.com where your fans and followers can check out past winners, and nominate right on the spot.
Who knows? Maybe one of our special teachers will become one of Virginia Lottery’s newest Super Teachers!

Recently ACHS organized a celebration of veterans to commemorate Veterans Day and record a virtual assembly to share with students. We also wanted to share it with the Amelia community as we break for Thanksgiving. The assembly includes student performances and our guest speaker LTC Phillip Amiss. This would not have been possible without the help and support of Luther Wooten, Jr., Michael Whitaker, and all of the members of VFW Post 8759!

Veterans, we are so thankful for you!

No School for Hybrid or virtual students
Enjoy your Fall Break and have a great Thanksgiving!

This year, our teachers are working very hard and have been thrust into a 24/7 role while trying to provide instruction for virtual and hybrid students. Please help us set boundaries for them by stopping all communication by 6:00 p.m. on weeknights. This will give them time with their families and themselves to ensure they are their best for your children every day. Please do not expect an email or message reply from faculty members after 6:00 p.m. on weeknights. It is still our expectation that they respond within 24-48 hours of receiving any message.

Thank you so much for your patience, flexibility, and support as we work through new protocols and virtual learning. Our teachers and staff work very hard to help your child be successful academically, socially and behaviorally. As always, feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education. We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday! Surf’s Up!
