$1M Powerball ticket sold in Michigan will expire in a week

Time is running out for a lucky Michigan Lottery winner to claim a $1 million Powerball prize.

The player’s ticket, which was purchased at a Speedway gas station in Hartland, matched the five white balls drawn Oct. 3. — 41-53-59-63-66, according to the Michigan Lottery.

The gas station is located at 10070 Highland Road.

The winner must claim the prize by 4:45 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Michigan Lottery’s headquarters in Lansing. The person with the winning ticket should contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to schedule an appointment to claim the prize.

If the ticket expires, the money will go to the state School Aid Fund.

Two $1 million lottery prizes already went unclaimed this year, according to the Michigan Lottery. A winning Mega Millions tickets expired in March and another in September.

There's only a week left for a Michigan Lottery player to claim a $1 million Powerball prize.

LANSING, MI — A winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million went unclaimed Thursday as no one turned in the ticket by the 4:45 p.m. deadline. The money will now go to the state’s school aid fund and marks the fourth time this year a prize that large was unclaimed.

The most recent unclaimed ticket was sold at the Marathon gas station, located at 27745 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills for the drawing held on Dec. 19, 2018. In March, a ticket sold at an Ypsilanti CVS worth $1 million was not claimed.

In September, a $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket went unclaimed and a ticket sold at the a Speedway gas station in Hartland worth $1 million sold in October 2018 was also not claimed. The record for an unclaimed ticket is $34 million. That ticket was sold in 1998 at the Meijer located at 1350 West Lake Lansing Road in East Lansing.
