ROME (ITALY) – PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (US), December 15, 2010 – Lottomatica Group S.p.A. announced that its subsidiary, GTECH Corporation, has signed a new lottery operator contract with the Texas Lottery to provide a wide array of lottery products and solutions including a new online/instants lottery system, more than 17,000 online terminals, a variety of self-service offerings, an IP-communications network, a statewide sales force, and ongoing support and marketing services. As was previously announced on November 22, 2010, GTECH was selected following a competitive procurement. The seven-year integrated services contract will commence on September 1, 2011, and includes the execution of a two-year extension option for a total of nine years. The Texas Lottery has the option to exercise three additional two-year extension options.

GTECH estimates the total value of the contract to be in the range of $750 million to $825 million over the initial nine-year period. GTECH has provided online lottery technology to the Texas Lottery since its inception in 1992.

“Our partnership with the Texas Lottery Commission spans nearly 20 years, and we appreciate their continued confidence in GTECH to serve them over the next several years,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “It is notable that the procurement in Texas placed a high degree of value on the quality and experience of the management team and the breadth and depth of the technology solutions. These criteria for selection affirm GTECH’s leadership in technology and innovation.”

Under the new contract terms, GTECH will provide the Texas Lottery with a comprehensive set of solutions including a central system conversion to GTECH’s Enterprise Series solution, and a mix of 17,000 full-service Altura® GT1200 lottery terminals as well as the Altura GT1200 Compact terminals to meet the needs of the Texas Lottery’s diverse retailer base. GTECH will also install and maintain a statewide IP-communications network, and approximately 15,000 Ticket-Scan™ machines, GTECH’s responsible gaming self-service ticket checkers that allow players secure access when identifying winning tickets. In addition, GTECH will deploy its Enterprise Series MultiMedia player messaging and transaction display technology to increase brand/jackpot/winner awareness and advertise new games and promotions, directly at the point-of-sale. The Texas Lottery will also receive 3,500 Gemini™ self-service lottery product vending machines as well as GTECH’s online, in-lane solution, Lottery Inside. Lottery Inside provides retailers the ability to process lottery transactions through non-lottery dedicated point-of-sale devices, such as cash registers. Moreover, the contract will allow for an innovative, contemporary player services package through GTECH’s new Renaissance Player Program.

GTECH will continue to provide ongoing services including installation and maintenance of the online/instants lottery system and communications network; installation and maintenance of 35,000 gaming equipment units in more than 16,000 retailers across the state; field services; and retailer training. Additionally, GTECH will provide warehousing and distribution services for the Lottery’s instant tickets.

GTECH will also provide the Texas Lottery with a statewide sales force and a full range of sales and marketing services in game product planning, sales and market analysis capabilities, through market surveys and research, and comprehensive retailer network reviews.
