Powerball Results, Numbers for 3/15/20: Did Anyone Win the $120 Million Jackpot on Saturday (Last) Night?

The winning Powerball numbers from last night’s lottery drawing are 9, 23, 26, 30, 32, and the Power Ball number was 8, according to the Powerball website. The Powerball jackpot last night was worth an estimated $120 million with a cash option of $96.1 million, but did anyone win?

Nobody matched five numbers and the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the grand prize has rolled over and is now worth an estimated $130 million with a cash option of $101.1 million for the next drawing on March 19.

One person won the $1 million prize by matching five numbers, and 14 people won $50,000 by matching four numbers and the Powerball. Eight of these winners used the Power Play to triple their prizes to $150,000 each.

More than 1,000 players won $100 each by matching either four numbers or three numbers and the Powerball, 400 of these players tripled their prizes with the Power Ball.

Additionally, nearly half a million players won smaller prizes in last night’s Powerball lottery drawing. More than 468,000 tickets won prizes ranging from $4 to $21 by matching just the Powerball to three numbers using the Power Play.

How to play Powerball

The drawings are broadcast from the Florida Lottery’s studio in Tallahassee. Tickets are sold in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, making it one of the most widely played lottery games in the country.

Costing $2 per play, players pick five numbers from 1 to 69 as well as one Powerball number between 1 and 26. Players can also multiply any non-jackpot prizes using the Power Play option for an additional $1 per go in certain circumstances.

The odds of winning a prize in every draw is around one in 25, regardless of the jackpot size, according to Powerball’s website.

Previous winners

There has already been some big payouts in 2020. This week Sheryll Goedert, 61, of Ocala, managing member of Vacation Life LLC, claimed the $396.9 million jackpot from the Powerball drawing held on January 29, 2020.

The Vacation Life LLC chose to receive the winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $276,558,034.09.

Stephen Piechocinski of St. Louis matched all five white-ball numbers in the February 12 drawing, to net $1 million. He said that he only remembered to buy his ticket at the last minute, having forgotten to pick it up in the morning like he usually did. His winning numbers will allow him to retire early, he said, according to the Powerball website.

How to avoid Powerball lottery scams

The lottery organizers warn people only to buy Powerball lottery tickets from an official, licensed lottery retailer. State lottery websites will have a list of their official retailers, so people are encouraged to check online and find out which their closest location.

Facebook users have reported posts that say Powerball is giving money away on social media, but these posts are fraudulent and should be ignored.

In June 2019, someone posing as a jackpot winner tried to scam residents of North Carolina by offering to donate $4 million to an organization. Scammers were also caught using photos of the winner on social media and said they would give money away in return for followers.

Nobody matched the numbers and the Powerball to win the top prize, which has now rolled over to Thursday.
