Maryland Lottery player collects fifth major RaceTrax jackpot

Oct. 11 (UPI) — A Maryland man who collected a $16,160 lottery jackpot is no stranger to lottery officials — it was his fifth major win.

Paul McDonald, 48, of Bowie, told Maryland Lottery officials he only plays the RaceTrax digital horse racing game, and the strategy paid off when a ticket he bought from the Corner Lounge in Upper Marlboro scored a $16,160 jackpot.

He scored the win by placing a Superfecta Box bet with the Bonus multiplier option on the numbers of 1, 4, 7 and 11.

McDonald has hit big RaceTrax jackpots four other times, most recently a $194,188 prize last year that was the third largest in the history of the game.

“My friends all tell me that I need to teach a Racetrax class and show everyone how to play,” McDonald said.

Winning $15K Maryland Lottery Racetrax ticket sold in Perry Hall

PERRY HALL, MD—Another week, another local winning ticket.

It was a winning week for fans of the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax, as the computer-animated horse racing game accounted for nine tickets worth at least $11,000 including a $15,367 winner sold in Perry Hall.

Officials say the winning ticket was sold on September 22 at the Safeway located at 9645 Belair Road (21128).

The Maryland Lottery encourages players to check their tickets by scanning them at any Lottery retailer or with the Lottery’s mobile apps. Draw game winners have 182 days from the date of a drawing to claim their prizes, and scratch-off winners have 182 days from the announced end-of-game date, though there is a grace period for tickets that expire during the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Earlier this month, a winning $2 million scratch-off ticket was sold in Perry Hall.
