Las Vegas May 2021
May is likely the earliest the Strip will reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic
May remains a question mark in Las Vegas. After the Strip was effectively closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, some shows were told to be ready to re-open in mid-May. The biggest event of the month, the three-day Electric Daisy Carnival at the Motor Speedway, has been officially moved to October. Hopefully, Vegas and the rest of the country will get back to normal as soon as possible. If Vegas reopens to tourists in May, visitors can expect warm weather, plenty of hotel deals and a three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Permanent Vegas Shows
Things to do in May in Las Vegas
See a Concert in Las Vegas
At this point, we don’t know which shows (if any) will go on as planned in May. Sting is still scheduled to kick off his “My Songs” residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 22. Gwen Stefani was all set to play the final dates of her “Just a Girl” run at Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood, but the singer announced those shows definitely won’t happen and is now hoping to return later in the year. Shania Twain is still scheduled to continue her “Let’s Go!” residency at the same venue May 20. The Michael Buble show at T-Mobile Arena on May 9 has been postponed to a date to be determined. In major news, the Electric Daisy Carnival electronic dance music festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was rescheduled for October. For the latest information, stay up to date with our list of Las Vegas headliners in May.
Celebrate May Holidays in Las Vegas
Memorial Day traditionally marks the start of summer and one of the biggest weekends of the year in Las Vegas. Even if the Strip is back open, expect Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-25, to be considerably more quiet in 2020. On the plus side, it could be easier to get into restaurants, nightclubs and pool parties. Remain up to date with club schedules & ticket prices .
If there’s little action on the Strip, you may prefer the beaches, boating and jet skis of Lake Mead and Lake Las Vegas, each just minutes outside the metropolitan area. Lake Havasu in Arizona and Lake Powell, which borders Arizona and Utah, are both worth a road trip as well.
Keep in mind, Nevada is following a stay-at-home mandate until at least April 30. The city may not be back to business-as-usual in time for Cinco de Mayo, which until now, was only getting bigger and more indulgent each year. If restaurants and bars are back open, you should be able to enjoy deals and discounts on Mexican food and Margaritas.
Dance at a Nightclub in Las Vegas
Everything is tentative, but nightclubs Omnia, Jewel and Hakkasan have schedules resuming in May. Drai’s, Light and On the Record are declining to list a schedule and Marquee isn’t listing specific events until June. XS and Encore Beach Club have tickets on sale for events in May, but says all events are cancelled “until future notice.” Chateau has all events listed as cancelled for the time being.
Take a Dive into a Pool Party in Las Vegas
If hotels reopen in May after the COVID-19 pandemic, that means pool parties should be back up and running as well. The best way to enjoy DJs, drinks, and other fun by the water is with a cabana or daybed, which typically requires at minimum spend on food and drinks. Don’t be surprised to see some attractive discounts offered. Request a cabana or daybed through Lavish Vegas to learn about comps and special deals.
See a Comedian in Las Vegas
The Aces of Comedy series at the Mirage has cancelled performances until at least May 10. The leaves Tim Allen (May 15), Jay Leno (May 16)and Gabriel Iglesias (May 22-24) on the schedule. Meanwhile, Jeff Dunham is still booked for the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 24. Jo Koy and Sebastian Maniscalco alternate select weekends throughout the month at Wynn’s Encore Theater.
More fun things to do in May…
Enjoy the best bottle service and VIP package deals at top nightclubs: Hopefully, nightlclubs will return to dominate the nightlife scene in May. Partiers looking to skip the lines should reserve a VIP table, but booking with a club directly is never the best option. Lavish Vegas works with clubs to fill their premium seats at a lower price and is always the best plan for those who desire elite service without wasting money.
If your group isn’t set on a specific DJ and just wants a great bottle deal, Lavish Vegas can point you in the direction of a stylish lounge or a less hectic nightclub. You won’t wait in line, and we may even comp you a bottle. To get VIP table service and book a great bottle deal complete this form .
